In addition to his performing career, he is equally committed as an educator. Dold has served on the Piano Faculty at Santa Clara University and the Coach/Accompanying Faculty of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. His work in developing chamber music and collaborative training curriculums for pre-college musicians continues to be a major focus as the director of the Kansas City Young Chamber Musicians.
He regularly adjudicates and presents at both the state and local levels, including for the Music Teachers Association of California (MTAC), California Association of Professional Music Teachers (CAPMT), the Washington State Music Teachers Association (WSMTA), and the Kansas Music Teachers Association (KMTA). He received his graduate and undergraduate degrees at Indiana University, where he studied piano performance with Reiko Shigeoka-Neriki, chamber music with Yael Weiss, and collaborative piano with Chih-Yi Chen.
Darin began studying piano at an early age and was first recognized at age seven when he won the Atlanta Music Teachers Association Romantic and Impressionistic Competition. At nine years old, Darin began studying piano with Dr. Dmitri Shteinberg at the North Carolina School of the Arts. In 2020, at the age of 12, Darin won the Atlanta Community Symphony Orchestra Ruth Kern Young Artists Concerto Competition and was awarded the opportunity to play as a soloist with the Atlanta Community Symphony Orchestra. More recently, Darin was a First Prize Winner at the 2024 Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition, earning him an opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall in December.
Darin and his family have lived in Kansas since 2020 where he studies piano with Gloria Hsu and has performed with the Kansas City Young Chamber Musicians. Darin is a junior at The Barstow School where he participates on the debate team. He is also an avid classical guitarist and has received recognition as a prize winner at Appalachian State University and Columbus State University Guitar Competitions.
